Steamed Rice

Ingredients

  • 2 cups uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups water

Instructions

  1. Use a rice cooker to cook the rice.
  2. Rince the rice in a strainer until the water runs clear.
  3. Add the rinsed rice and water to the rice cooker.
  4. Turn on the rice cooker and let it cook until done.
  5. Place the cooked rice in a large bowl and let it cool to room temperature
  6. Once cooled, place the rice in the refrigerator overnight.
  7. It's important to use cold rice for fried rice, as it helps to prevent the rice from becoming mushy when stir-fried.

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 shallots, diced

  4. Scramble the eggs until cooked through, then mix the eggs with the garlic and shallots.
  5. Add the cold rice to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, breaking up any clumps of rice.
  6. Add soy sauce and cook for a minute
  7. Add MSG, white pepper, and green onions to the rice and continue to stir-fry for another minute.
  8. Turn off the head and drizzle the sesame oil over the rice, then give it a final stir to combine all the flavors.
  9. Serve the fried rice hot as a side dish or main course.

Tips

Instructions

  1. Once the rice hits the pan you don't let it sit, you keep it moving to prevent it from sticking and burning.
  2. If you want peas or carrots use frozen and add them to the pan after the eggs are cooked.
  3. Pairs well with sauteed mixed veggies and a protein of your choice, such as chicken or beef.
